Who is Jesus?

Jesus was sent, as a human, to Earth by God to offer the path back to God. In fact, Jesus is God! By believing in Him, we can have our sins erased and forgiven!

Jesus said in Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Jesus has always been, forever will live, and never will die. Genesis 1:1 states that In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. John 1:1-5 says In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended not.

From Genesis 1:1 until the end of the Bible, in Revelation 22: 21, Jesus is ever present. He was there and made the foundations of the world and created man. In the Old Testament we are looking for the Messiah that will take away the sins of the world. In the New Testament we are looking at the life, death and the resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. The prophets in the Old Testament and John, in the Book of Revelation, are looking back to the cross for our eternity in heaven and the judgment of the sinners. Jesus affirmed in the book of John 8:56-58 that He has always been. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him thou are not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you.  Before Abraham was, I am.

Jesus was in the Old Testament as Theophany (theo=god, phany=appearance). He warned Abraham that He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, and to Lot to remove his family before the fire destroyed everything. (Genesis 18 and 19) He was in the burning bush that commanded Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. (Exodus 3) He was the pillar of fire that lit the way to guide the Israelites leaving Egypt. (Exodus 13:21-22) He was the cloud of darkness that separated Israel from Egyptians. (Exodus 13:21-22) He was the rock in the wilderness that gave water to the Israelites in the desert. (Exodus 17:5-7). In 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 we read Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all pass through the sea; And we're all baptized unto Moses in the cloud in the sea; And it all eats the same spiritual meat; And it all drinks the same spiritual drink; they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them; and that Rock was Christ.

He is the mighty warrior that met Joshua and told him He is the Captain of the Lord in Joshua 5:13-15. and it came to pass, when Joshua was gone by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword draw in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, nay; as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come, and Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What sayeth my Lord unto his servant? And the captain of the Lord's host said unto Joshua; loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place where on thou standest is Holy. And Joshua did so.

Jesus came to save us by paying our debt for our sins. Our belief in Him gives us the free gift of salvation. Through God’s grace and mercy we can be forgiven and receive the Holy Spirit to guide us in our life on Earth until our souls join Him in heaven.

Pray and ask for forgiveness. Read your bible. Come to church to learn more about what this perfect man, Jesus, did for you!
