Who We Are… on Mother’s Day
We are sons and daughters celebrating Mom. We are thankful for her love, her sacrifices, and her ability to make things make sense when we need trusted guidance.
Some of us are also mothers and grandmothers being celebrated at the same time that we are celebrating.
We are also fathers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends.
Some of us only have our memories of Mom… and some are praying to become a Mom.
Moms hold families together… often behind the scenes. Carefully praying and planning for the daily things and to always be prepared for all the different possibilities of how things could go. We love and are thankful for our mothers!
Most importantly, we are children of God! We are thankful for His love, His sacrifice, and His ability to make things make sense when we need trusted guidance!
We pray for all of you to be blessed in who you are today!
A Memory by Joan Parsons
Mom was our best friend, our disciplinarian, our language teacher ("Do not say the word 'ain't'"), our singing instructor ("Say your words distinctly"). She didn't sing, but she was our best critic when we sang. Lol.
Mom also taught us to be the Christians that we are today. She always told us to dress the best we could when we went to church and to stand up straight when we sang. Lol. But most importantly, she taught us how to love the Lord. She would always say, "If you is what you was, you ain’t." Dad and Mom were saved in a little church in Shelby, Ohio, in 1962.
Our mom was the comedian of the family. She always had something funny to say. We always told her she should be either an English teacher or a lawyer. If you didn’t want her opinion, you had better not ask her. She loved her grandkids. She loved when they would come to her house. She would get the Uno cards out, and we would have a great time.
